For the most part, shopping at Office Depot is intuitive. We do recommend beginning with the Overview page. If you find you need more details, read on. Or send us a note.

On the bulletin board, before clicking "Login" you have the additonal options to "Create your online account" or "In-store discount shopping" These buttons will go away after you log in. So if you want either task, do it now. See the column to the right.

Clicking the Login button opens a page where you enter your account name and password. (Click in the user name field before typing your name.) After logging in, you are returned to the PG-OD bulletin board page, but it now contains shopping options.

Shopping lists (Discounts are here!)

A "Shopping list" is a list of OD products. You can make one list of everything you need, or separate lists for separate tasks. The predefined lists show the current special discounts. They change from time to time.

To see the shopping lists click under My Tools at the right.

To add an item to a shopping list, click

next to any product. It offers you a choice among your lists. Pick one and click

Be patient. The OD site is serving thousands of customers from tens of thousands of products.

Shopping

The Office Depot site is a typical full featured e-tail shopping site. You will find your shopping cart, store locator, search by name, order by item number, and several sorts of listings of categories. Options at the right provide for reviewing your recent orders, tracking outstanding orders, and reviewing you user profile. That last is where you go to change your password, shipping address, or other information.

The button in the lower right switches to a prettier page with expanded shopping categories. The "Green Office" category offers environmentally sound products.

Creating an account

There is no charge for creating an account, nor is a credit card required. Clicking

takes you to a page where you enter your identity and a shipping address. Considerable validity checking is done. If there is a problem the page reappears with error messages in red. Fix the errors and try again.

Note: The Proposed Login Name cannot be the same as any login name on any existing Office Depot account, even one of your own.

In-Store Discount Shopping

PittGlobal online discounts can also apply when you shop at an Office Depot store. The trick is to register a credit card on-line and then shop using that card. Effectively the credit card works just like an Office Depot "Procurement Card."

Registration of a credit card is not the same as using it for on-line purchases.

Begin by clicking

Then enter the credit card number. (Note that the page URL starts with "https:" the credit card number is sent securely. The credit card is NOT charged.) The card will not be active right away, but it will work within two business days after registration.

There is one hitch:

If you want to register a credit card for the in-store discount, you MUST be logged out and still be on PG-OD.

If you've logged in, you have to logout and return via the Pittglobal site. (If you have enabled autologin, you know how you did it—from "Edit Login" on the "My Profile Overview" page. So now you have to undo it.)

It is unlikely, but the Office Depot site may begin to behave strangely. Removing its cookies may help. Use your browser's cookie manager to delete the cookies under the name "business.officedepot.com"
